A Lesson from 2020: We Must Slow Down

By Chris Heuer | December 31, 2020

2020 taught us a lot this year, mainly that “slowing down” is not a luxury, but a requirement for our mental health and wellness. Our society can no longer operate at warp speed. There is too much at stake to ignore this challenge.

“Our love of speed has turned into an addiction.” We need to stop overreacting, being quick to anger, and slow to empathy if we want to help build a brighter tomorrow.

Giving yourself permission to go slow, to be more present, is no longer something we should do, it is something we MUST do.

By Chris Heuer | December 15, 2020

One of the founding beliefs of Remotely is that we know better and should do better. Better at what? Everything. We not only have the knowledge we already need somewhere in our world, but the wisdom is freely available to anyone willing to seek it. The WiFi Blues

By Matthew Weeks | November 5, 2020

Getting your home network rig ready for prime time. What tech malady most terrified office workers over the years? In the 1990s it was the BSOD “blue screen of death” in Windows. In the 2000s it was the “spinning wheel of death.” Now it’s “Your internet connection is unstable.” Talk about stressors in the workplace. …

Are you an Expensify- or a Coinbase-style Leader?

By Elisa Camahort Page | November 3, 2020

Two tech CEOs (both white men, FWIW) very publicly took stands on political speech connected to their companies, stands which were about as opposite as they could be. And it speaks to the decisions we all must make about whether to be an Activist Leader and what kind of Activist Leader to be. First came …

Five From The Island: 30 Oct 20

By Matthew Weeks | October 30, 2020

Closely related to how communications are different in remote teams, we bring an article that discourages leaders from …
