Upcoming Events: Oct 19-23

October 18, 2020 by Kristie Wells

We have built a great calendar of webinars, fireside chats, Ask Me Anythings, and Office Hours, and hope you will plan to join us for some, or all. If you are a Remotely Member, log into the website and then just click the “RSVP” box for Members on the bottom of the event page so we know you are coming. If you have not made the jump into membership as of yet, no worries! All our events this month are free, but we will ask that you register in advance.

Running Remote Meetings

Zoom Gallery Discussion | Remote Meetings, WTF or FTW?: Oct 20th at 11am PT. Remotely’s founder, Chris Heuer, is hosting a full #ZoomGalleryDiscussion around remote meetings, how to make them more effective, and how to produce results while fully engaging your team and benefiting from the value everyone on the team can bring. .

What is Remotely: Oct 21st at 2pm PT. Join us to learn more about Remotely and our plans for making remote work for everyone. Here you will get a chance to hear from the founders and ask us questions.

.

  • What does it mean to be an activist leader: Oct 23rd at 12pm PT. Remotely founding advisor and author of Road Map for Revolutionaries: Resistance, Activism, and Advocacy for All, Elisa Camahort Page, sits down with Anita Jackson, director of digital communications for MomsRising, and Brandi Riley, creator of the Influencer Activist Toolkit. They’ll discuss how to integrate sustainable cause-related activities into an already busy life, including with your work or at your workplace.

.

PLAN AHEAD

Are you a Walker, Climber, or Flyer: Oct 27th at 11am PT. Leigh Durst will walk you through the three operational styles present in any workplace. Unlike personality types, operational styles shape how we view our jobs and ourselves, how we get things done, and how we leverage relationships to do so within the context of work.

.

What is Remotely: Oct 28th at 2pm PT. Join us to learn more about Remotely and our plans for making remote work for everyone. Here you will get a chance to hear from the founders and ask us questions.

Articulating Your Value: Oct 30th at 10am PT. Joanna Bloor considers herself a Potentialist. She argues that major decisions are made about you when you’re not in the room, so you need to do everything in your power to have agency over your own future adventures by cementing the right value statement in the minds of the folks who can help you reach your goals. She’ll sit down with Remotely founding advisor Elisa Camahort Page to talk about exactly how to do that.

.

.

BONUS

Online Facilitation Unconference: Oct 19th-25th. Hosted by our long-time friend Tim Bonnemann. Make sure you use our code “OFU_Remotely_20” to get a 20% discount off the tickets!

We hope to see you at some, or all, of these great events. And check out what else we have planned for you over the next couple of months!

In a hybrid work world, white-collar employers have embraced the concept of "hot-desking" (not having your own desk) as a savings tool. Employees don't love it. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-the-great-divide-over-over-hot-desking-while-companies-see-cost/

Yes, better pay and benefits are essential for retention.

But when employers fail to ensure that staff feel connected and fulfilled, they ignore what employees themselves say is driving them to reassess their relationship with their employers.

The folks at @CultureAmp have shared four areas that People & Ops teams should focus on in 2022.

One of them is to redefine perks since that foosball table in the office is gathering a bit of dust. 😀
