To Make Remote Work for Everyone, We Need to AIM Higher

August 18, 2020 by Chris Heuer

WorkHardAnywhere

Remotely’s mission is to make remote work for everyone. And we mean everyone.

What we mean is everyone who is striving to give their unique gift to the world, to lift others, and to aspire to become their most fulfilled self. Regardless of identity, circumstance, or location, we believe that everyone has the potential to do this, if given the opportunity.

At this unique moment in history, where our very way of being in the world has been fundamentally altered, it is time to come together in support of a common vision for a better world. For a more equitable and inclusive world. It is time to come together to lift ourselves and each other.

At Remotely, our reason for being is to meet this moment and seize the opportunity of this day, and every day to come.

This is why we ask our members to join us as we pledge to always AIM higher, with greater Accountability, Integrity, and Mutuality.

This is why we ask our members to join us as we pledge to keep it REAL with greater Respect, Empathy and Love.

Remotely is more than a community. More than a new media company. Μore than an educational platform. More than an association. More than a certificate program. More than a social network.

While the immediate focus of our membership, development, and training programs is on adapting to the world in which remote work is the norm, our mission is to create a world in which everyone who wants to give their gift to the world can. Not just because it is the thing to do at this moment, but because inclusive teams have been proven to create more successful outcomes.

Remotely will provide knowledge and skills to remote workers, leaders, and organizations. The kind of knowledge and skills needed now to create a world where Accountability, Integrity, and Mutuality are the norm. To enable us to thrive and differentiate ourselves as more skilled, more empathetic, and more trustworthy while working remotely.

Remotely will give more people the opportunity to live their best lives, and give their best to one another, and to our society. We are better off when others are better off. It is not a zero-sum game.

If we are successful, with your help, we will serve the whole of society, not just a few. To do this, we are establishing the Remotely professional development network, and the RemoteReady training program, as the brand that not only represents the most capable and trustworthy remote workers in the world, but also to represent those of us who created the future world we’ve always imagined possible.

To meet this moment, we invite you to commit to yourself and each other, to join us as we pledge to keep it REAL and to AIM Higher.

Let’s navigate this new world together in our shared goal to make remote work for everyone, so we can lift ourselves, our families, and those we love.

Today, we invite you to join Remotely so we can learn, grow, and prosper together as we seize this incredible opportunity from the midst of one of the greatest challenges the world has ever faced.

In a hybrid work world, white-collar employers have embraced the concept of "hot-desking" (not having your own desk) as a savings tool. Employees don't love it. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-the-great-divide-over-over-hot-desking-while-companies-see-cost/

Yes, better pay and benefits are essential for retention.

But when employers fail to ensure that staff feel connected and fulfilled, they ignore what employees themselves say is driving them to reassess their relationship with their employers.

The folks at @CultureAmp have shared four areas that People & Ops teams should focus on in 2022.

One of them is to redefine perks since that foosball table in the office is gathering a bit of dust. 😀
