Self Management for Remote Workers, With Doug Kirkpatrick
Whether it is managing your calendar, your home office setup, your bills, your boss, or even a team, we believe the key to success in the era of Remote Work is self-management. Assessing, planning, executing, refining, and delivering … and learning lessons from everything we do. Of course, the concept of Self-Management is much bigger than this, as it defines an approach to business in which every individual is responsible for themselves, their work, and their working conditions.
Transforming Education defines it thusly: “Self-management, which is also referred to as “self-control” or “self-regulation,” is the ability to regulate one’s emotions, thoughts, and behaviors effectively in different situations. This includes managing stress, delaying gratification, motivating oneself, and setting and working toward personal and academic [and/or professional] goals”
We believe this mindset of self-management, at the organizational and individual level, is the difference between success and failure for remote organizations and remote leaders. In 2021, we will be conducting more research into this connection to prove or disprove our hypothesis. In the meantime, join us as Remotely founder Chris Heuer talks with Doug Kirkpatrick about the opportunity and challenges for self-management, with the specific intention of unearthing insights for remote leaders to apply for themselves and their organizations.
